Once again, a jellyfish bloom

From the Times, a yearly warning of jellyfish.

The article says the jellyfish grow to around two metres in diameter so I am confused by the picture unless the diver on the left side is a child.

I know jellyfish are carnivorous and can eat fish, but I wonder if the jellyfish are being used a scapegoats for overfishing by humans.

Is it just me or does the "diver" look like a toy? It really looks like one of those little plastic soldier figures.

Two meters across would be about the height of a man...definitely much smaller that the apparent scale in that photo.

Perhaps it's a photoshop. The picture seems to have been around for a little while (not sure if it's originally from the KT), and on this post with other pictures of Nomura jellyfish, they seem to think it's fake:
